Cat vomiting information and causes.
Cat vomiting can be caused by many things; some severe and some not. It is normal for a cat to vomit a couple of times a month due to fur-balls. If vomiting is severe, repeated or persistent, take your cat to a veterinarian imediately, as it can be an indication of poisoning or a serious disease. If possible, put a sample in a clean bag or jar, and bring it to your veterinarian.
Below is a list of the common causes of cat vomiting, but consult your veterinarian for a full list.
Cat Vomiting Causes:
- Ate something that is now lodged
- Allergy (from their cat food, cat treats, table scraps, medication, kitty litter, mold, etc)
- Inability to digest certain foods
- Change in diet
- Eating too fast
- Stress
- Fear
- Excitement
- Cat hairballs / fur balls
- Worms / Heartworm
- Parasites
- Poison
- Poisonous plants
- Poisonous household cleaners, yard products, vehicle anti-freeze
- Heatstroke
- Motion sickness
Cat Vomiting - Medical Conditions:
- Colon dysfunction such as constipation or inflammation
- Inflamed stomach
- Tumors of the Stomach and Intestines
- Kidney disease
- Ulcers
- Liver disease
- Adrenal gland disease
- Thyroid problem
- Pancreatitis
- Feline Panleucopaenia
- ...And the list goes on.
